Information

Ethos and education
Marymount International School, London is a small independent Catholic day and boarding school for girls aged 11 to 18. We welcome girls of all faiths, providing a unique environment of cultural exchange and understanding for students from over 40 nationalities.

Students follow the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, recognised globally by universities as a benchmark of quality in education. In preparation for the IB Diploma, Marymount teaches the Middle Years Programme (MYP). With more than 30 years’ experience teaching the IB, we are able to offer the Programme with unrivalled expertise. Classes are small and students are stretched and encouraged to develop confidence as independent, creative and critical thinkers. Study programmes, which offer a wide selection of languages and subjects, are tailored to meet the needs of individual students. Marymount is the first school in the UK to have its own, fully equipped Fab Lab (fabrication laboratory) designed to facilitate the teaching of computer programming, coding and robotics. Our results are outstanding and our students graduate to the finest universities worldwide.

Location and facilities
Located on a private estate, just 12 miles from central London, Marymount offers modern facilities in a secure suburban setting. The School accommodates approximately 100 boarders and 150 day students, and an emphasis is placed on pastoral care. Facilities include a new Fab Lab, new library, sports hall, science centre, music and art rooms and an auditorium. Boarding students are offered a full range of extracurricular activities, making full use of the attractions of London and the surrounding areas.

History
Marymount was established in 1955 to meet the needs of families in the international business and diplomatic community and is part of an international network of 19 schools founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. The School embraces the RSHM Mission ‘that all may have life’. Students at Marymount embody this philosophy through their education, their social development and their extracurricular life.

Entry requirements
Marymount attracts motivated, hardworking students who have the ability to succeed and contribute to the life of the School. Admission is based on previous school records, teacher recommendations, tests and an interview. The School encourages parents and students to visit so that they may meet some of the teachers and hear about the life at Marymount from other students.

‘We are taught in such a way that every student feels supported, affirmed and motivated.’

Scholarships and Bursaries

SCHOLARSHIPS & BURSARIES

In line with our Mission "that all may have life", we seek to make Marymount education available to as many girls as possible, and to this end, we offer a package of scholarships and means-tested bursaries which are outlined below.

We have six scholarships allocated/awarded to those students joining Grades 6 and 8 who demonstrate outstanding ability in academics, music and potential to contribute to our school ethos, and leadership skills. Candidates will also be required to show how they can flourish as a result of the range of opportunities we offer them. In addition, Marymount offers scholarships to current Grade 10 students which are subsequently applied in Grades 11 and 12.
Each scholarship amounts to a 5% reduction in school fees and is tenable throughout the student's time at Marymount, provided she maintains excellence in her area of award.

BURSARIES

We are keen to prevent financial considerations from deterring any prospective student from applying to our school, and are able to offer limited full or partial needs-based bursaries to qualifying students who manifest potential to succeed and benefit from Marymount's programs.

Specific details regarding our bursaries should be requested from the Bursar - bursar@marymountlondon.com

Student Profile

Head’s Welcome

It is a great pleasure to introduce you to Marymount International School, London.

This school belongs to the network of Marymount Schools, Colleges and Universities in Europe and North America.

A Catholic foundation, our history began in 1846 in Béziers in the South of France when our founder, Père Gailhac, had a pioneering vision for the education of girls and established many schools and colleges, as well as hostels and hospitals throughout the world.

At Marymount London today, that same vision allowed us to introduce the IB Diploma and IB Middle Years programmes; the first introduced some 27 years ago, long before the International Baccalaureate became accepted as the benchmark of excellence it is today.

We emphasise a balanced curriculum and with an outstanding academic record, are rightly proud of our social justice programmes and attention to community service.

Our students are talented young women who set ambitious goals and work diligently to achieve them. A feature of this school is that, year on year, our graduates enter excellent universities. Students leave Marymount International School with ambition, goals and the conviction that they are active participants in the global project of our future.

This website will, I hope, give you a clear idea of what a Marymount education can offer your daughter; but it can never be a substitute for a personal visit. I invite you to make contact with us, or visit to see for yourselves what the school looks like and feels like, to watch classes in action, meet teachers and talk with students.

I look forward to greeting you on campus.

Sister Kathleen Fagan RSHM, Headmistress

School Open Days and Events

To truly appreciate the community spirit which pervades our campus, there can be nothing better than attending one of our biannual Open Days, where you will have an opportunity to meet fellow new families, members of our faculty and staff, and learn more about Marymount's history, philosophy, and student offerings. It is our ambition that new parents will feel as much a part of our School as their daughters do, and the convivial atmosphere at Open Days is especially conducive to this.

These events are usually organised in October and March of each academic year, and the dates for the upcoming Open days are:

The format for the day will typically include a welcome from the Headmistress, a series of presentations on Marymount's academic, pastoral, and boarding programs, and a student-led tour of our campus.
