Mr. Todd Beatty, Northern Bedford County School District Superintendent

You may have seen in the paper much of what I am going to say, but I felt it important to provide it to you on a bit more personable level. My name is Todd Beatty and I hail from Fulton County. I currently own and reside on the property that I grew up on which at that time was the family dairy operation. Although I did not always appreciate the lessons I was learning at the time, looking back on it, the requirements of farming along with my parents, helped develop my values and beliefs. My values and beliefs include: Stand by what you say no matter what, have integrity, admit when you are wrong or made a mistake, always work to improve yourself, stand on your principles—what is right isn’t always popular and what’s popular isn’t always right, do right by people, have self-discipline, and in my case make every decision at NBC based on what is best for our students and our school.

Prior to going to college, I worked for a construction company that erected steel buildings and applied metal siding and roofing. Following my construction stint, I went to Millersville University and received a degree in industrial arts education. I worked several years in alternative education developing an appreciation of students from different walks of life. I went back to school at Shippensburg receiving my Masters in Education and served as a Principal for thirteen years in two different school districts. During this time, I went back to Shippensburg taking the coursework and obtaining my Superintendent’s letter of eligibility bringing me to my current position here at NBC. During all this time, I served twenty years in the Pennsylvania National Guard retiring as a First Sergeant in August of 2007.

Wayne SherlockSince I have started on July 1, each person I have worked with or have talked with has an absolute desire for Northern Bedford to be the best in the county and beyond; I can feel the pride coming from the community. I am truly blessed to have been chosen to lead a school district like NBC. My goals are to continue with the district mentality of being fiscally intelligent while providing the things necessary for our students to be successful, ensure that each and every student will be problem solvers—thinking through an issue, doing the research, making a decision, and defending their position successfully, and continue our values of caring for and being respectful of each other.

Again, I am honored to serve as the Superintendent of your school. I am looking forward to seeing you in the future.
