Expected team leader Ryan Place suffered muscular difficulty after racing with the leaders for six miles and had to retire from the competition at eight. Ioannis Papadopulos rushed in to fill the gap while Dan Smith, who had been uncertain of his soundness to race, placed second for the team on a day that saw sub-par performances from David Bedoya and Matt Haringa. Tomoaki Uchiki filled in fifth place for the team that scored behind a sea of blue shirts worn by the BAA, CMS, adidas New England, as well as the dull red of Whirlaway. The GBTC team falls to third in a tie with Whirlaway for the year’s GP score.
