International schools in London

There are a number of international schools in LondonMany expat parents relocating to London choose to send their children to international schools, as it allows them to continue on the same education system that they were used to back home. International schools also address the important issue of the maintenance of mother tongue literacy skills. Most international schools also provide a strong ‘English as an Additional Language’ (EAL) programme for students.

In London, expats will find that international schools are fairly flexible and welcoming to children of all nationalities. In fact, many wealthy British families choose to send their children to an international school to expose them to a broader curriculum. Staff at the top international schools are well-equipped to serve the unique needs of the expat community.

Admission requirements vary from school to school. Some are based on entrance exams and others on previous school reports and satisfactory references.

Tuition fees can be as high as GBP 10, 000 per term, plus extra costs for school meals, uniforms and music lessons.

It is important that expat parents apply early to give their child the best possible chance of getting a place at the international school of their choice. Many of the top international schools are now finding it difficult to accommodate the growing number of new applicants. This is because London has grown in popularity as a destination for expats and it seems that expat families are staying in the UK longer.
