New England School of Dance

New England Academy of Dance

One of the most invaluable aspects of training at the New England Academy of Dance is the opportunity for many students to gain stage experience at a young age. Performing before a live audience teaches stage decorum, instills confidence, and facilitates the transition from student to professional.

Each year more than 150 students are selected to appear with the New England Dance Theater in its annual holiday production of The Nutcracker. Participation is by audition only.

Spring Performance
Each spring the School stages a student showcase, open to the public. The performances begin with class demonstrations given by the lower-level students. Select advanced-level students then perform in classical ballets from the Company’s repertory, as well as in contemporary works created especially for them.

Additional Opportunities
Select advanced level students perform for non paying audiences who would not get to experience ballet without such community outreach. We perform a shortened Nutcracker each year for our Senior Citizens and clients of local charities. We also perform in several fund raising events and Community Showcases.
